The Opportunity

We are seeking a licensed and motivated Physician Assistant to join our medical team. Reporting directly to the Medical Director, you will provide comprehensive primary health services under supervision, playing a vital role in our healthcare delivery system. This position is critical for achieving our goals of broad service coverage and maintaining the highest standards of patient care. You will work across clinical, community, and administrative functions in a dynamic hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

Your role encompasses direct patient care, community health, and collaborative teamwork. Core duties include:

Clinical Care:

  • First, you will assess, triage, and prioritize patients according to their medical needs at the health center, polyclinic, or hospital.
  • You will conduct confidential patient consultations, including thorough history taking, assessment, and diagnosis.
  • A primary responsibility involves initiating and implementing individualized care plans for patients.
  • Furthermore, you will accurately document all patient care and management activities.
  • You will assist in providing medical interventions, administering emergency therapies, and performing minor surgical procedures such as wound suturing and dressing.
  • Additionally, you will actively participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and morbidity reviews.

Community & Administrative Duties:

  • You will participate in community outreach programs and help facilitate community involvement in health initiatives.
  • You will contribute to maternal and child welfare, family planning, and health education efforts.
  • You will also assist in data collection and reporting for epidemiological monitoring.
  • Moreover, you will maintain effective communication with colleagues, other professional groups, and patients.

Professional Development & Compliance:

  • You will commit to continuous personal and professional development.
  • You will comply with all hospital health, safety, and quality assurance policies, acting as a role model for quality improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate is a licensed professional with a strong clinical aptitude and interpersonal skills:

  • A valid, active license from the Ghana Medical and Dental Council is mandatory.
  • Proven clinical skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, and care planning.
  • The ability to work excellently under pressure and adapt to flexible hours.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative mindset for working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A strong commitment to community health and patient education.
