POSITION: Optometrist
Medicas Hospital invites applications from qualified professionals for the position of Optometrist. This role is dedicated to delivering efficient and high-quality eye care through comprehensive examination, accurate diagnosis, and effective management of the eye and visual system.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
You will provide a full spectrum of optometric services to ensure optimal patient vision and ocular health.
- Conduct thorough eye examinations of the visual system to diagnose impairments and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses or treatment plans.g
- Utilize observation, specialized instruments, and pharmaceutical agents to assess visual acuity, focus, coordination, and to detect diseases such as glaucoma or color blindness.
- Analyze all diagnostic test results to develop and implement a personalized patient management plan.
- Prescribe, supply, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other essential vision aids.
- Educate and counsel patients comprehensively on contact lens care, visual hygiene, proper lighting, and overall eye safety.
- Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare specialists when additional medical treatment is necessary.
- Prescribe therapeutic procedures aimed at correcting or conserving vision.
- Provide specialized vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation services.
- Actively participate in organizing and delivering community outreach eye care services.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Optometry or a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree. Additionally, you must have completed at least a one-year internship at a recognized health facility.
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
- Exhibit the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Possess the capacity to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising care standards.
- Show a demonstrated ability to work proactively on your own initiative while positively influencing colleagues.
- Have the skill to initiate and maintain clear, concise, and accurate patient documentation.
- Display flexibility and a consistent, methodological approach to clinical work.
