Purpose of Position
Repair and maintains machinery in the workshop and underground. Occasional overtime and standby.
Key Performance Area’s (Responsibilities):
Repairs and Maintenance
- Receive instructions from Electrical Supervisor – Machinery in for repair e.g., electrical packs, control stations, Soft Starters, Inverter drives, DC Drives and electrical ac/dc Motors service and repair (draws on his training experience and electrical knowledge).
- Examines and fault finding on electrical circuits and equipment to determine where the faults are, decides which parts or components to use, selects correct tools / equipment and proceeds to repair, when necessary, applies on new methods when existing processes are not suitable
- Assembles repaired components or devices according to standard procedure.
- Conducts tests on all circuits repaired and ensure all settings and parameters are correct.
- Dismantles electrical motors, replaces bearings accordingly and assembles.
- Repair motors e.g. ships repairs, replaces and conducts tests. AC and DC Motors.
- Reports anomalies pertaining to job to supervisor.
- Conduct regular tests on all circuits, overloads, load limits and earth leakage units to ensure all are in a safe and working condition.
- Conducts regular spot checks on equipment / tools used and decides whether to repair e.g. replaces grinding stones, supply cords, plugs on hand electrical tools.
- Component identification.
- Wiring of electrical packs and control stations.
Key Performance Area’s (Responsibilities):
Supervision
- Supervises labourer on a daily basis e.g. instructs him to assist with dismantling of motors, to wash necessary parts, clean out electrical packs, secure connection and repair cables.
- Oversees laborer to ensure standard procedure is adhered to and takes disciplinary action, when necessary refers to Site Foreman for further investigation.
- Ensure all paperwork are updated and handed in. (Commissioning list, breakdown list,
maintenance and repair procedure). - Report back to Site Manager or Site Foreman with completion of commissioning, breakdowns, repairs or maintenance.

Health and Safety
- Adheres to all aspects of safety pertaining to safety on the job.
- Performs any other necessary activities for the effective completion of his work.
- Ensure work area is clean, neat and safe. (Good housekeeping).
- Time management.
- Willing to do standby and call outs.
- Loyalty to Company and fellow workers.
Qualifications and Experience for Position-preferred
- Minimum qualification BSc Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Legal and physical requirements Must hold a valid Ghanaian driving licence.
- Community Validation form
Added Advantages in terms of skills and experience
- Strong knowledge about drill rigs and raise boring. Relevant Electrical
- Trade Qualification
- Literacy level Fluent in English (write, speak, understand and read).
Position-related experience
- Not less than 5 years working experience in a mining environment.
- Appreciable knowledge in workplace safety and first aid
- AC and DC knowledge.
- Inverter and DC Drive knowledge.
- Fault finding.
- PLC knowledge.
- AC and DC Motors.
