Job Title: IP Engineer, Ghana
Responsibilities
The IP Engineer’s job will be to develop, integrate, and put into action IP-based services on the Main One network.
Among their other duties are:
- Creating new network options and working with OEMs when necessary.
- The plan behind MainOne IPv6
- Design, planning, management, and upkeep of a network.
- Setting up IP multicast and deploying IOS-XE and IOS-XR routers
- Making sure that level-1 IPNOC information is shared.
- Figuring out and fixing problems with WAN/LAN connection.
- Managing the IP backbone’s bandwidth to get the best results.
- checking and fixing all parts of the network on a regular basis.
- Troubleshooting experience with routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and EIGRP) in a big network.
- Strong knowledge of how to set up and fix Cisco routers and switches.
- Monitoring network elements and making sure that all broken or down sites or links are fixed quickly.
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of network tools like Cisco ASA and Fortigate routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Exploring what we already know and making suggestions to improve systems, solutions, and methods.
Skills, qualifications, and abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field, or at least two years of work experience.
- Relevant professional and technical qualifications, such as CCNP, JNCIS, and (preferably) CCIE.
- Good at putting on shows
- Skills for managing relationships
- Time & self-management skills
- Being able to work well under stress
- Good speaking skills both orally and in writing
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VPNs, EVPN, VxLAN, SDWAN, SDN, and other networking technologies.
- Hands-on experience setting up Cisco and Juniper routers and firewalls,
- Service provider skills with technologies like MPLS L2VPN, L3VPN, ISIS, BGP, and Segment Routing
- Proven ability to design and set up complex, high-performance networks with multiple locations and applications, ideally service provider networks.
- Knowing how to write scripts is a plus.
Demands of the Job
- There may be a need to travel. Able to work with little guidance.
- Be able to work long hours and meet tight deadlines, and be ready to do so.
