The Bank, originally known as Essemaman Rural Bank Ltd., was established on January 20, 1983, and was granted a banking license on August 31, 1983, making it Ghana’s 66th rural bank.

With its headquarters in Shama, about 25 kilometers from Takoradi, the bank has served the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Area, Shama District, Mpohor District, Wassa East District, Nzema East District, Tarkwa-Nsuem District, and Ellembelle District of the Western Region for the past 37 years.

Job Description

Lower Pra Rural Bank PLC is seeking applications from qualified persons for the role of Head of IT.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic IT Planning: Create and implement a strategic IT plan that is consistent with the organization’s goals, with a focus on scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Oversee the IT department, cultivating an environment of innovation and continual development. Manage and mentor IT personnel, establish targets, and assess performance.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the IT budget and ensure that resources are allocated cost-effectively. Negotiate with vendors and oversee procurement processes for IT equipment and services.
  • Technology Oversight: Monitor emerging technology developments and assess their possible influence on the organization. Lead the implementation of new technologies and systems to increase operational efficiency.
  • Risk management and compliance: Identifying and mitigating IT risks while adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Create and implement security policies, data protection procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Project Management: Manage IT projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and satisfy the organization’s standards and expectations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key interface between the IT department and other business divisions, executive management, and external partners. Communicate IT strategies and initiatives effectively at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline is necessary. Having an MBA or Master’s in Computer Science is useful.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the banking sector, with in-depth understanding of banking operations and banking software, such as T24 (Temenos software).
  • Successful track record of delivering digital products such as mobile banking, internet banking, wallets, self-service channels, and automated systems.
