What Is This PhD Program About? 

This thrilling doctoral research initiative will include both in-vitro and in-vivo infection studies to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of therapeutic phages. The chosen PhD candidate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary, global research team aimed at transforming microbial treatment methods. During the journey, you will spend around six months overseas performing essential in-vivo research—transforming this opportunity into one that is both scientific and genuinely global in nature.

Eligibility Requirements

LMU Munich seeks highly driven international scholars who are enthusiastic about obtaining a PhD in a dynamic academic environment. You need to fulfill the subsequent requirements:

  • Possess a Master’s degree (or similar) in life sciences, biomedical sciences, or natural sciences.
  • Possess a solid foundation in microbiology and infection biology.
  • Be at ease working both on your own and in teams within a worldwide research setting.
  • Exhibit outstanding English communication abilities (both verbal and written).
  • Experience in bioinformatics, working with BSL2 pathogens, or managing (pro)phages is advantageous—but don’t stress if you lack any of these; you’ll have the opportunity to learn while working.
