Let’s solve it in court – Chairman Wontumi reacts to UTV’s apology
Popular Ghanaian politician and businessman Bernard Antwi Boasiako has rejected an apology rendered to him by UTV. This follows a comment passed by Afia Schwarzenegger during a discussion on their United Showbiz program.
In a statement written by UTV, it stated that “Management of Despite Media would like to render a sincere and unreserved apology to Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi for comments made in respect of him on the 9th of July 2022 edition of United Showbiz.”
Chairman Wontumi stated that the slander made by the social media commentator is at court and that is the only way by which it can be solved.
The Management of UTV on Friday, 15th July 2022, rendered an apology to the politician over the statement made by Afia Schwarzenegger on the United Showbiz program hosted by Nana Ama McBrown.
During discussions on the show, Afia Schwarzenegger made some comments that UTV admits were defamatory remarks about the NPP regional chairman for the Ashanti region. She also spoke about being sued by Chairman Wontumi. She stated that she was sued for claiming that she had sex with the Ghanaian politician.
Addressing the issue, Afia further added that she lowered her standards by dating a man like Chairman Wontumi.
This comment pushed Chairman Wontumi’s button to sue the TV station as well. The host of the United Showbiz, Nana Ama McBrown together with her guest, Afia Schwarzenegger, panelists A Plus and Mr. Logic, and the Managing Director for the Despite Media Group, Fadda Dickson were dragged to court for contempt.
INTERVIEW WITH PAUL ADOM OKYERE
During an interview on Good Evening Ghana, Chairman Wontumi was asked by the host Paul Adom Okyere if he had seen the apology rendered by the TV station. He stated that “I don’t want to talk about it but the issue is in court. The things that are in court, I don’t talk about it.”
