POSITION: Zonal Manager, Community Engagement (Northern Zone)

Job Description
The Zonal Manager of Community Engagement will be a member of the project team, collaborating with the Ghana Health Service (GHS)/Health Promotion Division (HPD), District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), Community Health Management Committees (CHMCs), local non-governmental organizations, community organizations, USAID, and others to accelerate the adoption and implementation of key health behaviours. Priority areas of focus include malaria prevention and treatment, maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH), and public health emergencies (PHE), both nationally and in targeted districts in the four regions of focus within the Northern Zone.
The Zonal Manager, of Community Engagement will operate under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party to provide specialized technical assistance to the GHS-HPD, local civil society, and partner organizations in reviewing, planning, managing implementation, and monitoring community engagement interventions.
Roles and responsibilities
- Directs technical assistance for the creation and implementation of community involvement and mobilization strategies to promote quantifiable behaviour change in MNCH, malaria, FP/RH nutrition, WASH, and PHE.
- Ensure that gender, youth, and social inclusion are integrated throughout the process, from formative research to design, media and material creation, community mobilization, and evaluation.
- Reviews consortium partners’ deliverables under contracts and grant agreements, ensuring that tasks are completed on schedule and efficiently while adhering to FHI 360 contractual agreements.
- Contributes to and creates detailed strategy documents, work plans, field reports, quarterly/annual reports, and other reporting requirements.
- Communicates with and manages consortium partners engaging in community mobilization and engagement efforts.
- Ensures that data is collected and reported regularly at the community level for project accountability and progress tracking.
Required Skill or Experience
- Requirements for this position include a bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, community development, or a similar discipline, as well as 6-10 years of experience directing foreign health/development programs in Ghana.
- Prior expertise in community engagement and mobilization models and tactics, including their practical implementation in malaria, MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, WASH, PHE, gender, disability, and youth inclusion.
- Evidence-based, innovative, and effective community mobilization methods must be demonstrated, as well as experience working with Ghanaian district and community health structures.
- Experience establishing and implementing community involvement programs with a health focus, demonstrating their scope and impact at scale.
- Understanding best practices in formative research, pretesting, and monitoring and evaluation procedures for successful SBC and community mobilization programs.
- Strong technical (health, gender, disability inclusion, youth, SBC) programming, leadership, organizational, and managerial abilities have been demonstrated.
- Ability to complete things in a timely and effective manner with minimum supervision.
- Interpersonal communication and negotiation abilities have been demonstrated through previous engagement with communities, civic groups, churches/mosques, community groups, partners, sponsors, and NGOs to achieve common goals.
- Ability to prioritize while multitasking and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Language requirements include excellent writing and vocal communication skills in
