Role Purpose
Answering to the IT Service Delivery & Help Desk Manager
The IT Project Specialist will be tasked with helping in the planning, coordination, and execution of IT infrastructure projects. This position collaborates closely with the Service Delivery Manager, suppliers, and important stakeholders to guarantee prompt and effective provision of infrastructure solutions.
Main Duties
- Supervise and handle IT service requests and incidents, guaranteeing prompt resolution and maximum customer satisfaction concerning infrastructure in Africa including servers, network devices, Wi-Fi, firewalls, etc.
- Maintain elevated standards of IT service provision, fulfilling or surpassing SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
- Offer initial support and collaborate with second and third-line support teams to effectively address technical problems.
- Guide and engage in IT initiatives, making sure they are finished on schedule, within parameters, and meet the necessary quality criteria.
- Oversee and coordinate infrastructure-related projects, including network enhancements, data center relocations, server installations, and cloud migrations.
- Assist with change management for projects, asset oversight, and configuration documentation.
- Support in post-project evaluations, documenting insights gained and chances for enhancement.
- Oversee the execution of infrastructure projects, guaranteeing adherence to technical standards and governance regulations.

Requirements
Technical and Behavioural Skills
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least five (5) years of experience in IT Infrastructure projects or a comparable position in overseeing and coordinating projects.
- Thorough knowledge of infrastructure elements including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud services.
- Having experience in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure: switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs.
- Familiarity with server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and activities related to cloud migration.
- Knowledge of storage solutions (SAN, NAS, RAID) and backup methods.
- Acquainted with the JIRA support tool and the Change Management Process.
- Understanding data center standards, rack configurations, and considerations for power and cooling.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, particularly in incident and change management.
- Experience a supportive workplace within a department that is seamlessly connected to the larger organization.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding spoken and written communication abilities.
- The capacity to function efficiently in a team setting and cooperate with coworkers from various locations.
- Extremely meticulous with a forward-thinking approach.
- Deep understanding of MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ready to travel throughout Africa.
