POSITION: Programme Management – Associate

UNOPS has entered into an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to carry out the project activities for the Global Programme on Nature for Development.

The Global Programme on Nature for Development by UNDP consolidates various initiatives such as the Equator Initiative, the National Biodiversity Initiative, and Learning for Nature into a single program aimed at identifying, promoting, showcasing, and celebrating nature-based solutions that contribute to the attainment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at local, national, and international scales. The efforts of the Global Programme on Nature for Development support UNDP’s Strategic Plan by outlining sustainable development routes via the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as by fostering inclusive and efficient democratic governance in the domain of natural resources.

The Equator Initiative unites the United Nations, governments, civil society, businesses, and grassroots organizations to acknowledge and promote indigenous and local sustainable development solutions for communities, nature, and resilient populations. The Equator Initiative aims to acknowledge the achievements of local and indigenous efforts; provide opportunities and venues for sharing knowledge and best practices; guide policy to cultivate an environment conducive to local and indigenous community engagement; and enhance the abilities of indigenous peoples and local communities to amplify their influence.
