Bunge is looking for a driven Boiler Operations Support to become part of our varied team in Tema.
This position aids the Boiler Operator in guaranteeing the safe, efficient, and ongoing operation of the plant’s boiler system, ensuring a steady steam supply essential for production activities. This role emphasizes effective, hands-on support in fuel management, biomass processing, and fundamental boiler oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Fuel Management: Collaborate with the Utilities Supervisor to guarantee sufficient biomass fuel inventory levels are upheld to avoid production disruptions. This involves fundamental predictions of fuel requirements based on supplied production timelines and organizing fuel shipments.
- Biomass Management: Supervise and coordinate the receipt and movement of biomass fuel. This includes guiding trucks during unloading, facilitating effective movement of biomass from storage to the boiler hopper, and reducing material waste.
- Boiler Operations Oversight: Conduct regular inspections and oversee essential boiler operating metrics, such as ash quantities in the ash hopper, external boiler states, and manual gauge measurements. Accurately document information in logs and notify the Boiler Operator of any irregularities.
- Maintenance Assistance: Support the boiler team with fundamental preventative and corrective maintenance activities on the biomass boiler, including cleaning, lubrication, and additional tasks as instructed by the Boiler Operator.
- Housekeeping: Ensure a tidy, organized, and secure workspace in the boiler house, following all safety protocols and company guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Conduct: Exhibit a robust work ethic and dedication to safety. Be proactive, focus on details, and work effectively in a team setting. Show an eagerness to acquire knowledge and enhance abilities.
- Technical: Skilled in accurately completing log sheet reports. Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Excel for entering data. Skilled in the safe and efficient use of fundamental hand tools. Understanding of fundamental boiler operation principles and dedication to adhering to safety protocols. Proficiency in the English language is necessary.
Education & Experience:
- Fundamental NVTI Certification (or its equivalent) in a relevant technical area (e.g., Mechanical Technician).
- At least 1 year of direct, practical experience in an industrial setting. This is an entry-level position, perfect for an individual with a mechanical technician background looking for hands-on experience.
