JOB VACANCY FOR MEDICAL SPECIALIST
The Ministry of Health exists to promote and provide integrated, holistic and sustainable preventative, curative, and rehabilitative quality health services to the nation
VACANCY: Medical Specialist – Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Oncology, Radiology. Orthopedics and Ophthalmology
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the Ministry of Health, Department of Health Service Management, tenable at various facilities
- VACANCY NO: 22 of 2022
- SALARY: (127,44-19425,972 per annum)
BENEFITS:
- Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50s, Employee pays)
- A contract of 34-36 months with gratuity of 30% payable at the end of contract.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine Surgery plus Medical Specialization in (MMED Masters) in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Oncology, Radiology, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology
- Direct Entry alter completion of specialist training
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To manage medical service in a hospital on a 24 hour basis, providing professional leadership to the multidisciplinary medical team and delivering specialized care in the diagnosis, therapeutic and persentative of ailments

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Firstly, Make clinical decisions regarding patient management.
- Secondly, Consult and examines inferred patients, makes diagnosis and decides on the plan of
- Thirdly, Monitor patient’s progress or response to prescribed treatment
- Moreover, Perform procedures which require advanced clinical knowledge and mate complex problems to the Consultants as necessary
- Additionally, Implements the medical plan of care in collaboration with junior members of the team
- Furthermore, Prioritize and assigns work to the junior members of the team and other relevant members of the health care team.
- More so, Collaborate with the Consultant to effect appropriate external referrals of patients if in house amenities are inadequate for the necessary management and treatment of the patient.
- Thereafter, Confer and collaborates with other senior members of Health team to ensure a concerted multidisciplinary approach to patient care
- Then, Participate as an expert in national panels which assess patients with occupational related medical health problems to determine consequent functional, disabilities and make appropriate recommendations for compensation or termination of employment to Director of Health Services to aid the administration of justice by providing informed professionals opinion in legal cases where foul play is suspected
- Also, Investigate reported cases of alleged malpractice, negligence or incompetency and prepare functional reports to the Ministry
- Afterwards, Conduct specialist clinics in different health regions and district hospitals as
- Last but not least, Provide consultancies and adequate guidance to senior medical officers with regards to clinical management of patients during the outreach programmes
- Finally, Conduct the planning and budgeting of the department to help the hospital management arrive at a realistic allocation to meet the needs of the service
