Position: Head of Finance
South Akim Community Bank invites applications from highly qualified finance professionals for the position of Head of Finance. The Strategic Role
The Head of Finance serves as the cornerstone of our financial operations, safeguarding the bank’s monetary resources while maintaining impeccable accounting standards. Moreover, this position requires a visionary leader who can drive strategic financial planning, prepare comprehensive reports, and ensure strict adherence to regulatory frameworks. Consequently, we seek an individual who combines technical expertise with strategic thinking capabilities.
Core Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure full compliance with Banking Law provisions, Companies Act 2019 (Act 992), and directives from Bank of Ghana
- Adhere to ARB Apex Bank procedures alongside the bank’s internal policies
- Implement robust accounting systems and corporate financial policies for accurate financial position reporting
- Maintain internal financial controls guaranteeing completeness and accuracy of financial information
Financial Planning and Reporting:
- Initiate, coordinate, and consolidate the bank’s annual budget and financial targets
- Produce monthly and periodic financial and management accounts for internal stakeholders
- Prepare statutory reports and regulatory returns for Apex Bank, Bank of Ghana, GRA, External Auditors, and SSNIT
- Manage the month end management reporting process including variance analysis
- Explain financial trends to management and board members in a timely manner
Risk Management and Strategy:
- Advise on financial risk implications of resource allocation decisions
- Review financial evaluations for proposed projects and initiatives
- Develop accounting policies, operating standards, and monitoring mechanisms
- Manage treasury functions effectively to optimise the bank’s financial position
- Oversee General Ledger maintenance and fixed asset management
Required Qualifications
Educational Background:
- Professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA II, CIMA III, or ICA II
- Master’s Degree in a related field will provide a significant advantage
- University degree in Accounting, Banking, or Finance
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum five years working experience in a similar leadership role
- Strong analytical capabilities with critical thinking and attention to detail
- Proactive and innovative problem solving approach
- High personal integrity and professional conduct
- Excellent interpersonal communication and report writing competencies
- Practical knowledge of T24 Banking software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
