Petersfield & Rey Limited, a fast-growing fruit processing company with the mission to produce high-quality fruit juice and fruit-based products, is seeking a Financial Accountant who will support the Chief Executive Officer with business growth strategies and the financial status of the company.
The ideal candidate will utilize knowledge of relevant accounting standards to manage the financial planning and regulatory reporting of the business, whilst ensuring appropriate controls and risk management of the business.
This role requires an ability to analyze financial reports to support decision-making and guide operations. The role holder will interface with all functions within the company to ensure financial control and adherence to policy guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning
- Develop financial plans and strategies to support the business objectives and decision-making
- Manage the budgetary processes, ensuring all budgets adequately reflect resource requirements and revenue estimates
- Oversee the investment of funds, manage the associated risks and advise management on financial and tax considerations of investments, as well as other business transactions.
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessment on existing projects and new project proposals
- Liaise with financial institutions, and investors as may be required, to ensure the business remains adequately funded in terms of Debt, Equity, and Working Capital requirements.
- Keep abreast of changes in the industry, financial regulations, and legislation; ascertaining implications for the business and advices management accordingly.
Financial Management
- Maintain the General Ledger ensuring transactions are correctly classified, and supported by appropriate source documentation
- Ensure the efficient and effective reconciliation of all the Bank Accounts to minimise risk and financial loss
- Ensure the preparation and timely submission of statutory and non-statutory Reports
- Analyze financial reporting, ensuring the information provided adds value to the decision making and operations.
- Develop and implement cost management strategies and systems to ensure optimal utilisation of available financial resources
- Monitor the budget implementation, highlighting deviations and recommending appropriate interventions.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
- Manage and oversee the customer credit risk to avoid incidents of client bad debts.
- Act as the key liaison with external auditors, banks/ financial institutions and tax authority
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the CEO
Tax Management
- Develop strategies to minimise the company’s tax liability within the confines of the laws
- Monitor and ensures complete and accurate tax accounting and compliance
- Provide advice and ensure that the company complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other statutory and regulatory tax requirements
- Coordinate audits by various tax authorities and resolves all issues raised
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws: PAYE, VAT, WHT etc.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Strong aptitude for business and financial analysis
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Strong understanding of laws and regulations affecting the industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience working with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and highly developed social skills
- Team player
- Able to solve problems collaboratively and proactively
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Master’s degree will be an advantage
- ICA or ACCA Member
- 2 years’ post qualification experience in a similar role
- Experience working with a Manufacturing Company or FMCG will be an advantage
