POSITION: General Secretary (Chief Executive Officer)
The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) is in search of a highly skilled, experienced, and visionary individual to fulfill the role of General Secretary (Chief Executive Officer). The perfect applicant must be creative, forward-thinking, and a skilled communicator with a solid grasp of local governance and decentralization in Ghana.
Duties and Responsibilities
The General Secretary shall:
- Direct the National Secretariat and manage the execution of NALAG’s programs and initiatives with the President’s guidance.
- Oversee the daily administration and functioning of the Association
- Execute the resolutions and decisions of the National Delegates Conference (NALAG’s top decision-making entity) and the National Executive Council (policy-creating body).
- Create and enhance strategic collaborations and alliances with important stakeholders.
- Guarantee the effective administration and use of the Association’s resources
- Supervise the financial oversight and responsibility of the association.
- Act on behalf of the Association in media, policy discussions, and public events to advocate for local governance and decentralization.
- Carry out any additional tasks delegated by the National Executive Council.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area
- Hold a postgraduate degree or diploma in Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a similar field (preferred)
- Possess at least 5 years of management experience in a leadership position.
- Exhibit robust conceptual, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate assurance, carefulness, and skillfulness in overseeing and guiding the secretariat.
- Have expertise and experience in local and decentralized government matters in Ghana.
- Have outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Possess experience collaborating with donor organizations and NGOs.
- Have computer skills with expertise in using the internet and office applications.
Terms and Conditions
- Compensation is open for negotiation, along with extra perks.
