Job Description

  • Location: Accra and Tamale.

  • Languages required: Akan, Buili, Chamba, Dagari Dangme, Dagbani, Ewe, Frafra, Gonja, Kassem, Krusal, Mampruli, Nabt, Talen, Sissala, and Wali.

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-profit organization established in the US that seeks and promotes effective solutions to worldwide poverty. IPA collaborates with decision-makers to build, rigorously analyze, and modify these solutions and applications, ensuring that the evidence generated is used to increase chances for the world’s poor.

The IPA seeks experienced enumerators to conduct in-person interviews with farmers in the following regions: Ashanti, Greater Accra, Bono East, Volta, Oti, Savana, Northern, Northeast, Upper East, and Upper West. The Field Enumerator will be responsible for gathering correct and timely data for an agricultural research project.

They will be responsible for conducting face-to-face interviews with respondents, adhering to specified rules and criteria, and tracking respondents within the targeted communities. The ideal enumerators should be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Akan, Buili, Chamba, Dagari, Dangme, Dagbani, Ewe, Frafra, Gonja, Kassem, Krusal, Mampruli, Nabt, Talen, Sissala, and Wali. The ability to speak various languages fluently is advantageous, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys in the designated localities.
  • Live within designated districts or field stations during the survey period.
  • Plan your daily routes and timetables to maximize efficiency and coverage.
  • Daily surveillance of responses in the neighbourhood.
  • Keep precise records of fieldwork activities and progress.
  • Foster a positive team spirit.
  • Maintain accurate and full data entry into designated systems.
  • Submit completed interviews to the specified server.
  • Examine and verify the data collected for accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and correct any discrepancies or inaccuracies.
  • Respond promptly to and resolve data audit feedback issues.
  • Submit daily or weekly output/work reports to your immediate supervisor.
  • Submit timely deliverable bills for verification and payment.
  • Submit a report on pertinent data-gathering concerns to your immediate supervisor for assessment.
  • Follow all IPA survey and data protocols to ensure data quality.
  • Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols established by the Ghana Health Service.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the Research Associate, Field Manager, Senior
  • Research Quality Associate, or other IPA staff.
  • Perform any additional project-related duties

Required Skill or Experience

Skill or Experience

  • First degree or equivalent from a respected university, with at least one year of field/data gathering experience.
  • Should be familiar with Computer Assisted Interviewing (CAI) or willing to learn.
  • Experience administering interviews using SurveyCTO is an added benefit.
  • Should be fluent in English.
  • Should be capable of translating questionnaires into any or all of the following languages: Akan, Buili, Chamba, Dagari Dangme, Dagbani, Ewe, Frafra, Gonja,
  • Kassem, Krusal, Mampruli, Nabt, Talen, Sissala, and Wali
  • Should be willing to travel and work in remote areas.
  • The ability to speak a combination of languages from a certain geographical place will be a huge benefit.

Note:

  • There will be an aptitude test and interviews for externally shortlisted individuals.
  • We will consider Trainees who perform well during surveyor training for team leader and auditor jobs.
  • Being a resident of the aforementioned districts is advantageous.
