Role Overview
As Chief Internal Auditor, you will architect and implement a comprehensive risk-based audit strategy across all bank operations. Your leadership will ensure robust evaluation of control systems while promoting a culture of compliance and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute a dynamic risk-based internal audit plan
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems and governance processes
- Direct operational, financial, compliance, and IT audits across all business units
- Present detailed audit findings and risk assessments to the Board Audit Committee
Risk Management & Compliance
- Implement sophisticated mechanisms for fraud detection and prevention
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure resolution of prior audit findings
- Maintain strict adherence to professional auditing standards and ethical guidelines
- Interface with regulatory authorities and external auditors as required
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Provide expert counsel to senior management on control and risk matters
- Deliver clear and concise audit reports to executive leadership and the Board
- Foster strong collaborative relationships across business units
- Promote organizational awareness of risk management principles
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements:
- University degree with minimum Second Class Lower division
- Recognized professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CIA)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with 5 years in senior internal audit leadership
- Extensive background in regulated financial institutions
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking operations and regulatory requirements
- Fit and Proper Person status under Bank of Ghana guidelines

- Strong leadership capabilities with executive presence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage complex stakeholder relationships
