POSITION: Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer

Asante is presently managing the Bibiani and Chirano Gold Mines and is also progressing with in-depth technical analyses at its Kubi Gold Project for early output.
All mines and projects are situated in the rich Bibiani and Ashanti Gold Belts. Asante is additionally investigating its Keyhole, Fahiakoba, and Betenase initiatives for potential discoveries, all located adjacent to or along strike of significant gold mines in the heart of Ghana’s Golden Triangle. Asante is traded on the Canadian Securities Exchange, the Ghana Stock Exchange, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. About This Position
Tasked with ensuring the efficient extraction of gold ore from the Mine Operations by offering strategic expertise in mine planning and scheduling to meet medium to long-term production and development goals. Assist in corporate feasibility studies and technical due diligence processes, which involve creating designs for open pit and underground mines, as well as estimating costs and timelines.
Main Duties
- Make sure that applicable Safety, Mining, and other legal Codes and Regulations are fully adhered to in the workplace.
- Implement and advocate for the Company’s environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and procedures while actively engaging in the Company’s Continuous Improvement Programme.
- Evaluate mining techniques, processing techniques, operational expenses, investment outlays, production timelines, dilution, and ore waste.
- Determine crucial engineering and mining success elements and challenges that may affect the economic feasibility of mining plans and designs.
- Conduct engineering analyses to support resource evaluations for long-term mining planning.
- Create and establish processes, practices, and methodologies in engineering while ensuring they align with the organization’s long-term goals.
- Conduct reforecasting of budgets and LOM Plan or timelines as needed.
- Formulate bench development strategies and oversee both long and short term mine planning and underground operations to guarantee adherence to the mining timetable.
- Create and formulate plans for waste dump elevation development and dumping sequences.
- Start and carry out projects to enhance performance in engineering and to guarantee compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Achieve the highest return on investment by performing optimization, design, and evaluation tasks, determining ore reserves per established planning policies like cut-off grades and legal requirements.
- Assess different design options and mining strategies considering multiple operational situations to enhance productivity and revenue.
- Support the company’s ability to ensure safety by proactively recognizing risks and dangers to reaching objectives and creating, implementing, and overseeing programs to guarantee that these risks are reduced or removed.
- Ensure that all members of the mining teams comprehensively understand and are oriented towards Project objectives by guiding and managing the organization of regular planning meetings, making certain that deliverables are correctly documented and shared.
- Carry out additional tasks as may be given by your supervisor or designated representative.
Education, Professional Background & Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least five (5) years of experience in an underground mining setting, ideally in Mine Planning.
- Strong understanding and experience in strategic planning and budgeting.
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of mining operations, along with a basic understanding of milling processes and mine upkeep.
- Should be capable of executing financial modeling and analysis within a mining setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of every stage of mining operations and expertise in spreadsheet-oriented cash flow analysis.
- Proven capability to guide a team and perform risk evaluations.
- History of executing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Skilled in mine planning software for optimizing pits and designs, ideally Surpac, DataMine, MineSched, Whittle, NPVS, TALPAC, with proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with the Duty of Care Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2012 L.I. 2182, as well as the Mining Inspection Act & Regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of underground mining activities, along with strong safety results at both personal and professional levels.
- Hold a valid Ghanaian Driver’s License.
