The University of Ghana Computing Systems provides the IT services that the University of Ghana requires to fulfil its mission to be a world-class centre for research and teaching. UGCS provides innovative services and projects to support learning, teaching and research in response to the changing demands and trends in the IT ecosystem. In order to more effectively carry out this mandate, applications are invited to fill the following Senior Member positions:
POSITIONS
The Telecom Engineer (TE) reports to the Deputy CITO (Infrastructure) and is responsible for identifying the requirements of the UGCS telecom networks. Duties involve working with telecommunication equipment, hardware and services. The TE is expected to solve telecom related problems by assessing situations and applying relevant solutions. The Telecom Engineer will also design and create telecommunications systems.

2 . Head, Academic Computing (HAC)
The Head, Academic Computing, (HAC) reports to the Deputy CITO (IT Services) and is responsible for identifying and implementing programmes that promote the effective use of technology in supporting teaching, learning and research.

3 . IT and Network Security Specialist
The role of the IT and Network Security analyst/specialist is to manage the University’s firewall deployment and support as well as help maintain critical network configuration updates that have wider impact.

The role of a Data Center Specialist is to monitor, identify, and resolve issues concerning the data centre, server equipment, VMs setup and backup equipment; performs upgrades, assists with data storage, and restore issues working with the storage Specialist, maintains data centre documentations, tracks physical data centre inventories, and maintains disaster recover processes for future references.

The role of a Storage Specialist has become critical in the changing dynamics at UG’s Data centre as we migrate from the traditional data centre to Hyperconverged Infrastructure with multiple Virtual Machines to manage working on near-line and flash storage for maximum availability and reliability.
