POSITION: Dispensary Technician

Job Description

Plantations Socfinaf Ghana (PSG) Limited would like to inform all qualified and interested individuals about a vacant position in its Clinic Section of the Admin/HR Department. Dispensary Technician

• Job Location: PSG Health Centre, Daboase.
• Reporting to: Physician Assistant
• Job Summary: Provide technical support for pharmaceutical care delivery in accordance with expertise, standards, SOPs, and guidelines. Manage pharmaceutical services in the absence of the pharmacist.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Carry out assigned technical activities as outlined for the section or unit in which the postholder works, in compliance with established standards and policies.
• Preparing patients’ prescriptions for in-patient and out-patient services, as well as external purchases, when medications are unavailable at the pharmacy.
• Pre-packaging pharmaceutical supplies as needed to maintain stock levels.
• Ensure that extemporaneous preparations are up to standards.
• Assist with all areas of storage, record keeping, inventory control, and rotation in the ward and pharmacy units.
• Perform and document inspections of areas where medication is delivered, kept, and administered. Identify and retrieve expired pharmaceuticals and supplies, and register entries for unsafe medicines in accordance with hospital policy.
• Ensures that auditors and monitoring personnel have rechecked medicines or products received.
• Responsible for issuing drug requisitions while taking usage into account.
• Audit and advise on prescriptions originating from the consulting room.
• To aid in the efficient and correct compilation of statistics and work-related data in compliance with the established policy.
• To dispense medications and provide appropriate counseling to both in-patients and out-patients
• Perform additional official tasks as assigned by the Physician Assistant.

Required Skill or Experience

Education and Qualifications

• HND in Dispensing Technology or equivalent (Dispensing Technician Part III) and one (1) year of National
• Service at a recognized health facility.

• Problem-solving abilities.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Show flexibility and a methodical approach to work.
• Able to take the initiative and favorably influence others.
