We have an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Finance and Administration team as: ACCOUNTANT
JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent will report to the Senior Accountant and be responsible for a number of financial activities critical to the department’s success. Revenue accounting, journal entry posting, payroll administration, general ledger account reconciliations, and audit file indexing are all performed on a monthly basis to satisfy predetermined deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the necessary tasks to guarantee that the monthly payroll is completed on time and that pay slips are sent to employees according to the agreed-upon schedule.
- Maintain compliance with all payroll statutory deductions and keep stakeholders informed of current tax legislation and accounting standards.
- Process all statutory payments, including PAYE, SSNIT, PF, and others, to guarantee timely submission of statutory returns.
- Create a bullion revenue schedule and update it weekly using refinery outturn reports.
- Reconcile gold assay data from Asanko and Rand refinery, and inform management to defer the assay results for umpire if the variance exceeds the agreed-upon splitting limits.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc reports on payroll and revenue transactions.
- Before finishing each December payroll run, do year-end tax reconciliations between tentative tax and actual tax paid to establish any potential tax liability or credit.
- Prepare financial statements for both the Obotan and Esaase SRF.
- Ensure that bullion income, including necessary royalties, is recognized promptly and consistently with revenue recognition policies.
- Cooperate and help tax, internal, and external auditors in doing their obligations.
- Coordinate and keep track of all papers essential to your work, as well as offer the necessary support materials, both soft and hard copies, for auditing. Make them available for any form of audit.
- Account for net smelter returns and accruals of $2/oz as per the agreements.
- Prepare audit file indexes for AGGL and ADANS on a monthly basis, and respond promptly to Corporate Finance Team inquiries.
- Perform any other duties as given by the supervisor.
Required Skill or Experience
Knowledge
- A degree in commerce, financial accounting, or a related qualification from a reputable educational institution.
- Must have at least four (4) years of post-qualification experience in a similar job in the mining or allied industries.
- Strong computer literacy skills—MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- A hands-on approach and the willingness to work long hours to get the desired results;
- Proven knowledge of payroll accounting packages.
- Financial document preparation includes invoices, voucher payments, receipts, bills, accounts payable, and receivables.
- Perform bank reconciliation and balance verification.
- Must have a valid Ghanaian driving licence and be proficient in driving light cars.
