POSITION: HR Advisor

Overview of Responsibilities 

  • We aim to hire an HR Advisor to assist our teams in various countries throughout West and Central Africa. The position will report to the People Business Partner for West and Central Africa.
  • This is an essential position collaborating with the West & Central Africa leaders and other People Operations team members across Africa to aid in executing the Institute’s talent strategy, contribute significantly to the Institute’s development, and assist teams on a daily basis.
  • We are looking for a skilled individual with extensive HR experience in diverse, intricate, and dynamic global organizations.
  • The position is a component of TBI Africa’s Operations Division, aiding and facilitating the Institute’s efforts to achieve its mission. We consist of teams from People Operations, Legal Operations, Finance Operations, Digital Operations, and Security, as well as Technical and Resilience Operations.
  • The Division creates and implements policies and procedures that guide our work practices, reflect our values, and align with our strategic goals. We guarantee that our organizational strengths prepare us to address present and upcoming challenges and collaborate closely with all areas of the Institute to make sure its goals are effectively achieved.

Main Duties

The HR Advisor will manage all aspects of personnel issues with an emphasis on the following:

  • Assisting the People Business Partner with strategic talent management initiatives across the Institute.
  • Active management of all HR procedures, including onboarding new employees, extending contracts, processing exits, handling promotions, coordinating secondments, providing references, conducting probation evaluations, managing parental leave, and addressing flexible working requests.
  • Deliver expert and effective administrative support from the beginning to the conclusion of the employee lifecycle.
  • Tasked with maintaining the accuracy of information stored in our people management system and ensuring it is consistently current.
  • Assist with the Institute’s yearly and periodic audit inquiries.
  • Supplier coordination and management: overseeing reports and billing (e.g. OH, EAP, LinkedIn)
  • Sustaining and collaboratively generating content on our Learning & Development platform (LinkedIn Learning)
  • Assist the People Business Partner in managing Employee Relations matters (such as disciplinary actions and grievances).
  • Generating both scheduled and on-demand HR reports from our personnel management system (Workday)
  • Managing our onboarding procedure (e.g., arranging inductions and overseeing our ‘buddy’ program)
  • Oversee the administration of our personnel management system data, including data upkeep, reporting, and user settings.
  • Management of different national payroll cycles
  • Assisting and ultimately taking charge of HR project activities and new initiatives.
  • Any additional responsibilities that may be assigned occasionally

Individual Requirements

  • Robust organizational and time management abilities, along with experience in handling and prioritizing tasks.
  • Capable of handling competing demands and skilled in prioritizing as needed.
  • Can exhibit discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information or personal issues.
  • Comprehension of employment legislation in West & Central Africa and the function of a contemporary People Team.
  • Experience in administration or records management with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Acquainted with Microsoft applications and possessing intermediate skills in the MS Office suite.
  • Familiarity with international employment law is beneficial.
  • Comprehensive grasp of HR roles and optimal methods
  • Outstanding written and oral communication abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and pertinent professional certification.
  • The capability to communicate in both French and English is a benefit (spoken and written).
  • The entitlement to employment in any of the nations where the job is based.
