POSITION: Coordinator Ghana Survivor Network

Who We Are

For more than 25 years, the International Justice Mission (IJM) has been working to keep weak and at-risk people safe from violence by improving the justice system. The Ghana office helps the local government to save trafficking victims, punish those who do wrong, help survivors become safe and strong, and support the police in creating a safe future.

What is Needed

We are looking for a Coordinator for the Ghana Survivor Network to help us protect 500 million people from violence. This is a one-year job. You will work with the Senior Lead of the Global Survivor Network (GSN) at IJM Ghana. Your main task will be to support survivors so they can speak out about trafficking issues in their communities, churches, and the government. This work will help create lasting change and better protect those at risk of trafficking.

The GSN Coordinator reports directly to the National Director of Advocacy and Partnerships. This job involves finding, teaching, and guiding survivors to become advocates who can help change national and regional laws about human trafficking. Also, this is a temporary job that is mainly done at a specific place, with some travel to different locations in the country.

This job is located in Accra, Ghana. The person in this role will report to the National Director of Advocacy and Partnerships. Only candidates who are allowed to work in Ghana can apply for this position.

Duties:

  • Help local groups start GSN chapters, provide support and training for survivors, and create rules that make sure GSN can last a long time.
  • Find and invite survivors to join local groups of GSN, so they can become advocates and leaders in the movement.
  • Build and keep important connections with community groups, national organizations, local and national leaders, and government officials. Get them involved in taking action on issues related to GSN support and implementation.
  • Build and keep good connections with the guardians of survivors when necessary.
  • Give feedback to your team and management about what survivors experience in GSN and help make the program better overall.
  • Help create training materials for GSN members.
  • Find and offer training and guidance for GSN members.
  • Be a helper for training sessions when needed for GSN presentations.
  • Make sure to keep all related documents organized and properly recorded.
  • Make sure to keep an eye on the GSN program and check how it’s doing by getting feedback from GSN members and others involved.
  • Work together with the team to set yearly goals for the dashboard and finish important reports for the country, region, and world.
  • Team up with the Communications and Media Coordinator to find ways to tell stories.
  • Help find speaking opportunities and chances for GSN members to promote their views.
  • Other tasks as given.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience in social work, ideally with a non-profit organization.
  • At least two years of experience working directly with people who have survived difficult situations in a support role.
  • Hands-on experience with public speaking, supporting important causes, and raising awareness about key human rights issues; and
  • A clear knowledge or experience of IJM’s work and how they plan to make changes.
