Job Opening at SOS Children’s Villages Ghana

Position: PROJECT OFFICER

SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is a child welfare organization that provides stable, family-like care for children in need. We also support families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. We operate in Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, and Tamale, with our National Office in Accra. Our work changes lives. Consequently, we need a dynamic and results-oriented Face-to-Face Project Officer to lead our donor recruitment efforts.

This is not a desk job. You will be out in the field, leading teams on the streets, in malls, and going door-to-door. Moreover, you will recruit committed individual donors who become “SOS Friends” and provide sustainable funding for our programs. You will manage, motivate, and mentor your team of Facers. You will define locations, secure permissions, and monitor results daily. If you have sales experience, a positive attitude, and a strong interest in child welfare, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

As Face-to-Face Project Officer, you will own the recruitment of individual donors through direct engagement. You will develop and implement strategies for success, working closely with the Corporate Fundraiser and Donor Loyalty Officer. You will manage the day-to-day activities of your street teams, ensuring they stay motivated and meet their goals. Your leadership will directly impact the resources available to support vulnerable children and families.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and Motivate Facers: You will manage the team of Face-to-Face fundraisers. You will keep them motivated, focused, and performing at their best. You will lead by example, participating in street work and recruiting donors alongside them.
  • Set Goals and Monitor Performance: You will set individual and team goals aligned with departmental objectives. You will hold regular meetings to evaluate results and provide feedback. You will celebrate successes and address low performance promptly.
  • Assist in Recruitment: You will support the hiring process for new Facers. You will help find the right people who share our passion for the cause.
  • Develop Team Dynamics: You will create motivation and leadership activities that build a cohesive, high-performing team. You will manage conflicts and foster a positive work environment.

Strategic Planning & Location Management

  • Define Project Locations: You will research and select strategic locations for Face-to-Face fundraising. You will identify high-traffic areas in Accra and potentially other cities.
  • Secure Permissions: You will contact local authorities, shopping centers, and other venues to obtain necessary permissions. You will navigate the associated bureaucracy smoothly.
  • Analyze Strategic Locations: You will evaluate the effectiveness of different locations and adjust plans accordingly. You will use data to make smart decisions.

Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor Daily Results: You will track team performance through daily result records. You will analyze data against objectives in real-time.
  • Conduct Regular Evaluations: You will lead monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual review meetings with your teams. You will use these sessions to learn and improve.
  • Define Bonus Systems: You will work with the Fund Development Manager to create bonus structures that reward high performance.
  • Solve Problems Quickly: You will respond to low-performance situations and other challenges with timely, effective solutions.

Donor Recruitment & External Coordination

  • Recruit SOS Friends: You will personally engage potential donors and recruit new regular givers. You will share the SOS mission and inspire commitment.
  • Support External Agency Management: You will assist in managing relationships with external agencies that help recruit new regular donors.
  • Ensure Quality Work: You will maintain high standards in every donor interaction. You will represent SOS Children’s Villages Ghana with professionalism and care.

Qualifications & Experience Required

We are looking for a leader with sales experience, preferably in insurance, who is ready to apply those skills to a meaningful cause. You must be organized, independent, and genuinely passionate about children’s welfare.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A certificate in Fundraising will be a significant added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in sales, specifically in the insurance industry or a similar target-driven environment.
  • Proven experience in recruiting and retaining customers or donors.
  • Strong interest in the needs and development of children. This work requires heart.

Personal Skills & Attributes

  • A positive and professional approach to work. You are a natural ambassador for the organization.
  • Highly organized and able to work independently. You use your initiative and keep commitments.
  • The ability to lead and motivate others. Your team will look to you for direction and inspiration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with potential donors and team members alike.
  • Resilience and the ability to handle rejection positively.

Working at SOS Children’s Villages Ghana

This is more than a job. It is a chance to use your sales and leadership skills for a cause that truly matters.

  • Mission-Driven Work: You will recruit donors who provide stable, loving homes for children in need. Your work has direct social impact.
  • Dynamic Environment: No two days are the same. You will be in the field, leading teams and engaging with the public.
  • Leadership Role: You will have real responsibility for managing people and driving results.
