POSITION: PROJECT COORDINATOR

Company Overview

SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES GHANA is an organization focused on child welfare that offers a secure Family-Like Care (FLC) for children who require support. We additionally offer social services for at-risk families via our Family Strengthening Projects. At present, we function in four places: Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, and Tamale, with our National Office located in Accra.

Applications are sought from appropriately qualified and energetic individuals for positions under the NORAD Project as Coordinator for National Projects.

Assignment Location: Accra

Position Summary 

The Project Coordinator, under the guidance of the National Programmes Development Manager, will take charge of the planning, execution, monitoring, and assessment of the NORAD Project in 5 districts within 4 regions of Ghana, adhering to the organization’s Vision, Mission, Values, brand, and established strategies, policies, and national laws.

The role is crucial for guaranteeing the effective execution, oversight, and alignment of the program with national policies while working in close collaboration with local NGO partners and other SOS personnel. This role is essential for overseeing program resources, ensuring maximum effectiveness, and ensuring that the programme’s goals are met effectively and in harmony with local and national priorities.

Qualifications

The perfect applicant must:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Sociology, Economics, Community Development, or similar disciplines.
  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience in Community and Child Development, Project Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation in a development setting.
  • Possess strong communication and report writing abilities and be proficient in any of the local languages spoken in the project communities.
  • Maintain a constructive and professional attitude.

Main Duties

Program Management and Coordination: 

  • Supervise and guarantee the prompt, efficient execution of the child protection initiative in five districts: Sene West, Adaklu, Ada East, Ada West, and Ekumfi.
  • Organize the program’s actions by national policies, child protection frameworks, and local requirements, making certain that the program tackles the factors leading to parent-child separation, such as child labor, poverty, and insufficient caregiving.

Engagement with Stakeholders and Partnerships: 

  • Build and sustain robust partnerships with important national and local stakeholders, such as the Department of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ghana Police Service, and other pertinent government agencies.
  • Work together with local NGO partners, civil society organizations (CSOs), and community-based child protection committees (CBCPs) to guarantee successful local implementation and ownership of the program.

Oversight, Assessment, and Documentation: 

  • Make certain that you gather, examine and report all program data correctly, supplying evidence of impact to donors, stakeholders, and collaborators.
  • Oversee the M&E Officer to guarantee that complete monitoring and evaluation systems are established to evaluate program activities, outputs, and results.

Development of Skills and Assistance with Technical Issues: 

  • Offer technical assistance and capacity development for local NGO partners, community-based child protection committees (CBCPs), and other pertinent local stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the National Advocacy Advisor to create and provide training on advocacy, child protection frameworks, and policy integration.

Financial Administration and Budget Planning: 

  • Oversee the Finance Officer to guarantee that financial resources are efficiently managed.
  • Oversee budget spending, making sure that resources are utilized as intended and in accordance with program objectives.
  • Be extremely organized, possess leadership qualities, and exhibit robust supervisory and time management abilities with accuracy to achieve deadlines.
  • Exhibit excellent coordination and team leadership skills.
  • Possess computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be an inspired self-initiator with drive, adaptability, and passion.
  • Be a strategic planner, paired with a pragmatic “can do” mindset.
  • Possesses strong analytical abilities to assess problems in both local and global frameworks.
  • Have knowledge of Results Based Management and show the capability to produce progress reports focused on results.
  • Understand Child Rights and practices for safe protection of children.
