POSITION: Purchasing and Logistics Officer

The Purchasing and Logistics Officer will oversee all aspects of procurement and logistics in order to improve and maintain the stores’ safe and effective supply chain while remaining cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement and supply of parts and tools using an effective and efficient supply chain strategy.
- Ensure that all purchases are backed by the appropriate and approved requisition/capex.
- Monitor and manage data input into the system to verify correctness and relevance of cost data, as well as compliance with internal control policies.
- Implement best practices in supply chain management systems to fulfill company needs.
- Effectively organize and supervise all procedures, policies, rules, regulations, and techniques.
- Use relevant Sandvik systems to monitor and correct any purchasing/inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor all orders for SMC Ghana using effective and efficient delivery techniques.
- Create competency/career development plans for staff in the purchasing department.
- Manage the import and export of goods to and from Ghana.
- Work toward attaining the KPIs you’ve set.
- Adhere to all SMC Policies and Procedures, including the SHEQ policies.
Qualification
- Degree in Supply Chain/Part qualification in CIPS or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Solid understanding of spare parts, rock tools, and crushing and screening.
- Proficient in Business English (both written and spoken).
- Experience in procurement, cargo management, and import/export of commodities.
- Proficient in using Aurora software.
- Strong business acumen and an emphasis on environmental health and safety.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and people-management abilities are required.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office programs
- The willingness to travel and operate in remote areas for extended periods of time is required.
- Expertise in maintenance management procedures.
- Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and guide other team members.
- The ability to communicate in French would be advantageous
