POSITION: Impact Monitoring Officer (IMO)
Position Summary
Participatory Development Associates (PDA) is looking for skilled and committed individuals to serve as Impact Monitoring Officer (IMO) to methodically monitor, evaluate, and convey the measurable and unmeasurable results and effects stemming from the Mastercard Foundation’s programs and investments in Ghana. This will involve collecting data every quarter and assisting with the execution of associated monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tasks as assigned.
The position also includes following the data quality assurance protocols of the study to ensure precision and dependability, along with handling and transferring gathered information into designated systems. Furthermore, duties include aiding in longitudinal data gathering by improving participant retention, keeping a current database of participants, and making certain that individuals who want to leave the study can do so quickly and effortlessly. It is also necessary to help with the preparation of regular field reports and data gathering tasks.
The role will be located in chosen districts or areas across the country. Availability to travel throughout the district/region, including weekends, is mandatory.
Main Duties
- Carrying out preliminary and subsequent interviews with young workers and businesses following the sampling strategy.
- Guaranteeing an appropriate, thorough, and moral consent procedure to effectively and ethically acquire participant approval.
- Following the research’s data quality assurance procedures to ensure precision and dependability,
- Handling and inputting gathered information into designated systems.
- Aiding in the collection of longitudinal data by improving participant retention,
- Keeping a current database of participants,
- Making sure that participants who want to exit the study can do so quickly and effortlessly.
- Aiding in the creation of regular field reports and activities for data gathering.
- Engaging in all training sessions and skill development initiatives as needed.
- Following all safety guidelines.
- Any additional tasks that may be allocated periodically.

Required Skills or Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related discipline. Relevant training or similar experience in M&E or Impact Evaluation is also taken into account.
Experience
- At least 1–2 years of experience in data gathering for assessments or research, encompassing M&E tasks in development initiatives.
- Experience in fieldwork within both rural and urban environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, encompassing data analysis and interpretation.
Skills and Competencies
- Having expertise in digital data collection tools (such as ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare) is beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with experience in utilizing laptops, tablets, and GPS tracking.
- Robust analytical reasoning and precision in data gathering
- Skill to interact successfully with various groups of people.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities to express intricate concepts to various audiences.
- Effective relationship-building with participants and stakeholders
- Dedication to informed consent and confidentiality of data.

Additional Requirements
The position demands a readiness to travel frequently, even to remote locations, for the purpose of conducting fieldwork. Candidates must also be capable of facilitating training sessions and aiding in the testing of data collection instruments.
Moreover, the role might necessitate acquiring a criminal record certificate and completing background investigations as a component of the recruitment procedure.
