KHRC also provides research and training services on a national and international scale, with a multidisciplinary workforce. KHRC is located in Ghana’s middle belt.
Job Description
Qualified persons are requested to apply for a contract position as a midwife at the Kintampo Health Study Centre in Kintampo North Municipality, Bono-East Region, for a specific study project.
A Brief Job Description
He or she will be accountable to the Director, KHRC, through the project leader, to achieve defined objectives.
Key Responsibilities
If recruited, the midwife will be trained to do ultrasounds on research participants; however, knowledge of basic ultrasonography (ultrasound) will be advantageous.
In addition to the foregoing, the midwife will be responsible for:
- Measure maternal and fetal heart rates, measure mother blood pressure, and perform other diagnostic tests. Counsel pregnant women and, if necessary, send research participants to health facilities based on physical examinations, diagnostic assessments, or participant concerns.
- Counseling research participants on how to cope with negative pregnancy outcomes such as miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal, and newborn mortality.
Note: The assignment will entail travelling with the research team to communities in Kintampo North Municipality and Kintampo South area to meet with study participants.
Required Skill or Experience
The midwives should:
- Have at least one year of working experience.
- Must have completed his or her one-year required rotation.
- Obtain a recognized clinical qualification in midwifery from an acknowledged institution.
- Be a registered member of any of the nurses’ and midwives’ associations, with your pin and in good standing.
- Be well-versed in Ghana Health Service clinical policies.
- Work with minimal supervision
Qualification:
- Midwifery education options include a diploma and a B.Sc.
