POSITION: Program Coordinator
Position Summary
IPA’s Sector Programs offer expertise and leadership in identifying and addressing critical evidence gaps in key areas such as education, entrepreneurship and private sector development, financial inclusion, human trafficking, intimate partner violence, peacebuilding and humanitarian assistance, and social protection. A new Climate and Environment program is scheduled to debut in 2024. IPA sector teams collaborate with leading researchers, program implementers, policymakers, funders, IPA country offices, and global teams to identify important and policy-relevant questions and knowledge gaps, identify promising interventions and policy solutions, develop projects addressing key knowledge gaps using rigorous evaluations and high-quality data, and share results and lessons with decision-makers to help bring effective programs to scale.
The Program Coordinator is a new position that will provide administrative coordination and communications support for two of IPA’s Sector Programs: the Financial Inclusion Program (FIP) and the Human Trafficking Research Initiative (HTRI), as well as general administrative support to the Sector Programs team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who want to work in an organization that addresses complex global challenges by generating research, influencing policy, and developing partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the administration of two of IPA’s Sector Programs, the Financial Inclusion Program (FIP) and the Human Trafficking Research Initiative (HTRI) (90 percent)
- Working with the IPA’s Grants team to process grant agreements and financial distributions.
- Assisted in the tracking of ongoing HTRI and FIP-funded research projects, including deliverables, financial tracking, and file maintenance.
- Establishing consultant agreements and processing payment requests.
- Supporting the administration of HTRI’s competitive research fund and FIP’s Consumer Protection Research Initiative, including updating, posting, and disseminating calls for proposals, answering inquiries about grant application requirements, and supporting the selection committee review process as well as donor communications and approvals.
- Supporting financial administration duties (monthly spending reviews, cost transfers, payment requests, invoicing, and so on).
- Supporting grantee communication (kick-off calls, deliverable reminders, emails, etc.)
- Drafting project summaries for sponsored projects and coordinating with research teams and the IPA’s communications staff for approval and posting.
- Plan webinars and events to share fresh study findings.
- Assisting with the HTRI and FIP website updates
- Assisted with donor reporting.
- Other general administrative support (e.g., booking flights, scheduling calls, and monitoring general inquiry email addresses)
- General Sector Program Administration and Event Planning (10%)
- Supporting financial and administrative responsibilities for the Sector Programs team (cost transfers, payment requests, consultant agreements, travel requests, invoicing) as needed.
- Organizing and administering monthly meetings, annual retreats, and other events as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in economics, political science, public policy, or similar fields)
- 1–2 years of work or internship experience in research, international development, policy, program management, or a related sector.
- Attention to operational and research detail, as well as the ability to prioritize and efficiently manage many jobs
- Excellent communication abilities, including the ability to effectively and clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and/or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.), with experience using Excel/Google Sheets formulas to handle spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate information in a systematic and informative manner, both in writing and vocally.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and a team-oriented mindset
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written)
Preferred
Knowledge of themes connected to one or more of IPA’s Sector Programmes (agricultural, education, entrepreneurship, and private sector growth, human trafficking, intimate partner violence, peace and rehabilitation, social protection).
Compensation:
IPA’s compensation structure is based on the labour market in the specific geographic place where the employee works. We offer the following income ranges for this position:
- According to the IPA’s global employment structure, the Program Coordinator is designated as “B3”.
- For US-based employees, the initial annual gross salary is $44,900, with a maximum of $53,000.
- Salaries for locales outside the United States will vary based on the IPA salary scale ranges for that location.
