POSITION: Sales Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The incumbent is expected to generate and close new prospects through a consultative selling approach. The Sales Engineer is expected to apply their knowledge to discover and qualify leads, resulting in sales opportunities with both new and existing customers. The Sales Engineer is also in charge of ensuring a flawless end-to-end sales process while developing and maintaining excellent client relationships with the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets set by the executive leadership.
- Prospecting for new customers and business opportunities
- Maintaining and managing an existing customer portfolio to ensure ZERO loss sales through a customer retention program.
- Operating within established budget boundaries.
- Must have in-depth understanding of the features, functions, benefits, and usage trends for each product
- Consistently exhibit proficiency in the use, functionality, benefits, and drawbacks of your items.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, NetSuite, and SFDC.
- Conduct industry analysis and serve as a resource for updating Lead Sales Engineers and Heads of Departments on the latest advancements and new products in the industry.
- Conduct customer-installed base surveys and create reports that provide insights into opportunities, competitor information, and the performance of instruments located on-site. This may also require the Sales Engineer to collect client data and input, which must be relayed to leadership for future product development and introduction.
- Maintain oversight of all sales orders in transit by coordinating with the Logistics/Finance department to ensure that client purchases arrive on time and eliminate delays in delivery.
- Must follow the guidelines and instructions of the Lead Sales Engineer.
- Advice to the Lead Sales Engineer and General Manager on market trends, current demands, and future requirements.
- Meet the weekly call and customer visit targets. The Sales Engineer will be expected to deliver a weekly report to the Sales Lead detailing weekly customer engagements, including outcomes and obstacles.
Quality Management System Responsibilities
- Ensure that sales operations are consistent with quality standards and QMS criteria.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and expectations, and ensure that all sales operations follow departmental sales practices.
- Keep accurate records of sales operations, agreements, and customer interactions through officially approved channels.
- Identify chances to improve the sales process, customer satisfaction, and overall quality performance through regular interactions with customers and feedback to the HOD.
- Participate in all assigned QMS-related training sessions and disseminate knowledge about QMS to other team members.
- Participate in internal audits of sales processes and demonstrate knowledge of QMS to ensure compliance and improvements.
Organizational Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

Required Skill or Experience
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (or a related science program).
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar job.
- Applicants with experience in the oil and gas and/or primary sectors, such as mining, minerals, metals, and cement, will be given preference.
