POSITION: Finance Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
People Management
- Supervise the functioning and growth of the finance department;
- Direct and manage personnel and operations at the Unit;
- Oversees and evaluates junior employees.
Policy Administration
- Oversee the execution of routine evaluations of financial practices and recommend necessary policy updates;
Financial Administration
- Keep financial records for all projects and other PPAG fiscal activities;
- Make sure that monthly salaries and wages are reviewed and that journal entries are recorded.
- Create monthly, quarterly, and yearly cash flow forecasts for the supervisor’s review;
- Carry out treasury management tasks, including suggestions for alternative investments of unused funds.
- Examine monthly bank reconciliation statements;
- Examine and complete monthly financial reports and resolve any discrepancies that may be identified;
- Examine the monthly budget for special projects.
- Set up dollar accounts and cash ledgers;
- Create preliminary final accounts in CEDI and DOLLAR for the yearly audit;
- Collaborate closely with External Auditors throughout yearly audits;
- Ensure that expenditures are aligned with the specified budgets;
- Help in coordinating with external financial organizations as needed;
- Authorize petty cash payment.
- Oversee the creation of quarterly, biannual, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Regularly prepare and update the assets register.
- In charge of overseeing the store via the store’s officer.
- Yearly Proposal Creation for Programming and Funding
- Oversee the financial component of the development of funding proposals.
- Offer financial information as needed for the creation of new proposals and for yearly planning.
- Preparation of the financial component of the Annual Business Plan;
- Assist in the creation of strategic and yearly business plans.
Common Responsibilities
- Executes any additional tasks that may be delegated by the supervisor.
Required Skills or Experience
Competencies & Background
A master’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) and at least 5 years of relevant work experience after obtaining the degree, with 3 years required in a managerial role. Holding a professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) will provide an additional benefit. Familiarity with Sage Accpac is strongly preferred.
The individual should have:
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and strategic planning.
- A solid working understanding of MS Office, particularly in spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and Word applications.
- Outstanding skills in verbal and written communication, presentation, and report writing.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting standards, taxation laws, and sector regulations.
- A trustworthy individual
- Strong sense of responsibility, precision, impartiality, and capable of taking initiative and adapting to change.
- Should be able to work well with others.
- Analytical abilities
- Focus on specifics
- Social abilities
- Should be capable of working extended hours and in high-pressure situations.
- Should be capable of working with minimal or no oversight.
- The capability to travel on short notice
- Experience in the NGO sector is essential.
