- Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to the plantation manager and supervises overseers, headmen, and field workers.

JOB SUMMARY
To directly manage the operational and fiscal activities of the GIS/Survey Section, including the planning and development of systems and procedures to improve the Section’s operating quality and efficiency through staff supervision in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures, and to ensure that all Company acquired lands are surveyed, maintained, and monitored in accordance with existing legal regulations and Socfin’s requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the survey section in relation to the following:
- Preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of PSG’s GIS database systems, assuring the accuracy and integrity of all outputs.
- Creating and maintaining the structures required for GIS data storage.
- Collecting and capturing standard GIS data and creating maps for the GIS database to produce, among other things, static and dynamic maps for surveys and censuses.
- Create applications that convert GIS data to different formats in order to manipulate and exhibit geographical information.
Integrate several geospatial data resources.
- Analyze and integrate GIS data with other data sources to evaluate linkages across a wide variety of socio-demographic, spatial, environmental, and economic variables, including collaboration with departments/units such as Roads, Community, and Workshop.
- Assist Sustainability with any sustainability-related requests and actions.
- Prepare monthly reports for the plantations manager.
- Manage overall map production, including data analysis and the compilation of annual (and periodic) maps as instructed by the Socfin’s cartographer.
- Conduct biannual monitoring of all boundaries and other demarcation work in the company’s field, and ensure that reports are properly sent to the plantation manager.
- Throughout their employment time, employees are expected to demonstrate diligence, honesty, integrity, and dedication to the firm.
- Responsible and accountable for any losses incurred as a result of negligence and/or poor work performance.
- Plan and implement processes and procedures to increase the section’s operational quality and efficiency.
- Responsible for staff scheduling and management, including work assignments, training, leaves, overtime, and disciplinary.
- Ensure timely completion of timesheets and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for gathering the Survey workers at 6:00 a.m. and transporting them to the field to ensure 8 hours of effective work.
- Attend and give routine GIS training and assessments to related workers from other departments as needed.
- Set employee goals and conduct performance reviews.
- Responsible for the safety of oneself and others when working in a team, as well as full compliance with the company’s environmental, health, and safety management systems.
- Must provide support and reports in accordance with the company’s RSPO obligations.
- To fulfill any other duties assigned by the Plantations Development Manager and the Managing Director as needed, within the scope of their knowledge and capacities.

- Support the management of the Survey Section’s operational and fiscal activities by planning and developing methods and procedures to improve the Section’s operating quality and efficiency through staff supervision in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Required Skill or Experience
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Qualifications include a degree in Survey and Geoinformatics, GIS, Geo-informatics, Geography, Remote Sensing, Geodetic Engineering, Geology, or a similar discipline, as well as a National Service Certificate.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Highly adept in all applicable GIS software, including but not limited to ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, MapInfo, Google Earth, Avenza, and drone mapping softwares.
- Computer expertise (Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internet, including e-mail, Outlook, and Spreadsheets), handheld devices such as drones and GPS, and programming skills with tools such as SQL.
- Knowledge of data collection applications is an additional plus.
- Proficient in drone piloting, with certification as an added plus.
- Familiarity with survey legislation and regulatory connections will be beneficial.
- Excellent skills in developing and preparing technical progress reports.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
A minimum of four (4) years post-qualification working experience in case of a degree holder and six (6) years post-qualification working experience for a diploma holder in supporting the management of the Survey section of a corporate (ideally an agro-industrial) entity.
