POSITION: High School Biology Teacher

Crystal Heights International School (CHIS) is a British educational institution located in Accra, Ghana, offering a comprehensive curriculum for students ranging from preschool through IGCSE and A Levels.

Position Overview

Crystal Heights International School in Accra is seeking a full-time High School Biology Teacher. The Biology Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering biology lessons, effectively communicating with students and colleagues, and contributing to the overall enhancement of the educational experience at the institution.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and delivering engaging biology lessons tailored to students with diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilities.
• Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
• Establishing and enforcing clear expectations for behaviour in the classroom, laboratory, and during field trips, ensuring all students understand and adhere to these guidelines.
• Developing assessments, including tests, quizzes, and experiments, in accordance with state and school district standards.
• Collaborating with parents, counselors, and other key personnel to address any student-related concerns.
• Participating in school events, club activities, and staff meetings as required.
• Attending meetings, workshops, and other functions to promote the school’s initiatives.
• Proposing innovative ideas to improve the operations of the Biology Department and the school as a whole.
• Building rapport with students to create a safe environment for discussing sensitive topics in class.
• Encouraging student participation in science fairs, competitions, and showcases, and providing support in their preparation for these events.

Qualifications

• Proficient in lesson planning and teaching methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of Biology and Physics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possession of a degree in education or a relevant certification.
• The capacity to develop lesson plans that are both interesting and successful.
• Prior teaching experience is advantageous.
• shown tolerance and flexibility in a learning environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education.
• A Master’s degree in Biology indicates advanced study in biological sciences.
