We are seeking an Emerging Technologies Centre Technician.
Responsibilities
- Researches, implements, and maintains new and technologically advanced places in the Libraries.
- Directs the Libraries’ efforts to research, recommend, and implement innovative technologies and technology-rich areas for student and faculty usage.
- Creates and executes instructional workshops and other methods to better engage academics, staff, and students with developing technology and develop competencies.
- As the resident specialist in hardware and software. Works to assess consumer demands using future technology while maintaining a strong connection with users.
- Provides strategic leadership for the department’s information technology needs.
- Recommends, implements, and monitors operating policies and procedures to ensure they meet University requirements and industry best practices.
- Leads or interacts with other Libraries and campus IT staff on projects to enhance capabilities and services.
- Improves staff productivity and customer satisfaction by analyzing, recording, managing, and evaluating back-end client support services.
- Serves as a top-level support expert for the Libraries, collaborating with system administrators, campus IT, and vendors to resolve issues.
- Ensures the operational continuity of 24/7 services by remaining available to respond as needed.
- Directs, employs, and trains student employees, establishes clear expectations for their work performance, provides regular feedback, and fulfills all supervisory (of students) obligations.
- Participates in committees, groups, task forces, and teams on behalf of the Libraries IT Services Department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or IT required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably in an academic or research setting. Entry-level master’s degree holders in a relevant field will be considered.
- Proficient in Python, C++, or MATLAB programming languages
- Experience with robotics kits, microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pl), 3D printing, and AI tools
- Design and model with 3D CAD software
- Understanding of transactional educational environments
- Strong motivation in robotics and AI, with a desire to innovate
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Location: North Kaneshie, Accra.
