IPA collaborates with decision-makers to build, rigorously analyse, and modify these solutions and applications, ensuring that the evidence generated is used to increase chances for the world’s poor.

Job Description

Location: Accra.

  • Deadline to apply: December 13, 2024.
  • Desired start date: January 2, 2025.
  • Language requirements: Asante Twi, Ewe, and Ga.

Project Summary: 

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-governmental policy and research organization focused on improving the lives of those living in poverty. IPA’s work, which combines technical rigour, direct policy concern, and a deep basis in the needs of the poor, assists practitioners in better allocating resources and improving operations. Also, IPA has been completely registered and operating in Ghana since 2009.

IPA is looking for experienced enumerators to perform in-person and telephone surveys with parents/students. The position may need you to work from home or at a central location in Accra. Residents of Accra who speak the languages listed below are desired. Asante Twi, Ewe and Ga.

Reports to the Field Manager.

The Enumerators will perform in-person and phone surveys of parents and schoolchildren in the locations specified above.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys in the designated localities.
  • Live within designated districts or field stations during the survey period.
  • Follow all IPA survey and data protocols.
  • Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols established by the Ghana Health Service.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the Research Associate, Field Manager, Senior Research Quality Associate, or other IPA staff.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned. Required skills and experience.

Skill or Experience

  • First degree or its equivalent from a respectable university with at least one year of field/data gathering experience in Education or Social Protection.
  • Should be familiar with Computer Assisted Interviewing (CAI) or willing to learn.
  • Experience administering interviews using SurveyCTO is an added benefit.
  • Should be fluent in English.
  • Should be competent and capable of translating questionnaires into any or all of the following languages: Asante Twi, Ewe, and Ga
  • Should be willing to travel and work in remote areas.
  • Speaking multiple languages from a specific region is really advantageous.
  • There will be an aptitude test and interviews for externally shortlisted individuals.
  • Trainees who perform well during surveyor training will be considered for auditor positions.
  • Lastly, Being a resident of the aforementioned districts is advantageous.
