IRCC New automated tool for IEC work permit processing | Canada Immigration Guide

The IRCC has made the processing of IEC work permits easier by introducing an automated tool. Launching an automated tool with the goals of promoting quicker approval and improving the experience for young professionals was the motivation for this decision.

IRCC has begun using an automated system for handling IEC work permit applications.

Applications will be scored using the new tool according to the level of difficulty they provide as well as their eligibility for grant consideration for normal applications. As a direct consequence of this, we will be able to boost our level of productivity by rushing through the decision-making process for some applications.

The triage function that is a part of the IEC work permit handles the majority of the routine and administrative work involved in organizing applications and drawing conclusions.

Based on the criteria that knowledgeable IRCC staff members set, the tool assigns categories to the applications. The legislative and regulatory conditions that govern this program gave rise to the existence of these parameters. Officers who have the necessary competence and other potential subsequent responsibilities get files so that processing can continue.

In addition, the eligibility of the automated tool sorts the ordinary applications that are then forwarded on for a decision to be made. This indicates that the officer is responsible for determining whether or not the applicant can enter Canada.

The new tool, on the other hand, does not possess the power to make any decisions on the final outcome of an application. When it comes to accepting or rejecting an application, the sole deciding factor will be the IRCC officer. The application will only be considered for approval after the tool has checked its eligibility, and if that isn’t enough, a human official will look it over by hand.

IRCC’s dedication to technology and its usage

The Immigration and Refugee Commission of Canada (IRCC) is committed to promoting the use of technology in the pursuit of the objective of improving the immigration system.

Furthermore, the IRCC is unwavering in its commitment to developing and implementing data-driven technologies in an ethical and law-abiding manner. Moreover, the IRCC is unwavering in its dedication to protecting the privacy of individuals.

An algorithmic impact assessment, or AIA for short, was carried out on the program that is in charge of evaluating applications for IEC work permits. This type of assessment is more frequently known by its acronym, AIA. Additionally, this research in no way complies with the instructions given by the Canadian Treasury Board regarding the use of automated decision-making processes.

Following their investigation, the AIA came to the realization that the systems were only responsible for a marginal amount of influence. In addition, there are a large number of preventative measures that have been put in place to eliminate or significantly limit the chance of any potential risks. One of the preventative actions that may be implemented is to investigate the configuration of the instrument to see whether or not it offers satisfactory levels of privacy and protection. In addition to this, it is necessary to conduct an analysis to determine whether or not the tool may have any implications that are discriminatory, as well as whether or not authorities have the right to overturn the judgment that the tool has made.
