The Head of the Ghana Association of Songwriters (GAS) and well-known entertainment critic, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly called Mr. Logic has asserted that he was the one who gave the stage name Shatta Wale to Charles Nii Armah Jnr formerly called Bandana.
Speaking to Andy Dosty of Hitz FM, Mr. Logic said he suggested the name to the multiple award-winning Dancehall artiste since he believes names play a pivotal role in the success of a musician.
“Shatter was Bandana and whenever he sang he used the Wale name. He already had the Shatta Movement. So I recommended he used both names.”
He further disclosed that he has heard the name ‘Wale’ in most of Shatta Wale’s song when he was still known as Bandana so he told him to merged it with Shatta coined from the name of his huge fan base.
“He had another name aside from the Bandana which was vibrant on the street but prior to his comeback recently, he mentioned Shatta Wale in his hit song Dancehall King, it sounded so well to me so I recommended it to him which he accepted and that has been his trademark name.”
“I believe in names because as an artist or an individual, names matter so much,” he said.
