What is a screenshot?
A screenshot or screen capture is a picture taken by a computer, mobile, or tablet user. Using the said device, to record the visible items displayed on its screen. The image is stored as a graphic file. Screenshots can be taken using various programs or by using particular keyboard buttons and shortcuts.
A screenshot is an important skill for young people and generally all individuals to have. This article will show you how to Screenshot an image on your computer. Screenshots are useful for demonstrating computer programs and accessing online resources without an internet connection.
How to take a screenshot
This article will teach you how to take a screenshot on either a Windows computer or a Mac computer. We will begin with a windows computer;
Windows
To take a screenshot on your windows computer, hit the PrtScn button/ or Print Scrn button. To take a screenshot of the entire screen: press the Print Screen button will take a screenshot of your entire screen. It is located on the top right of the keyboard right after the ‘F’ keys. Hitting this button basically copies the image of the screen to your clipboard.
Where is it stored?
You will have to open Word or some other image editing program to view, edit or save the image. For example, open Word and click Ctrl and v (to paste). This is a shortcut to paste the picture you took instead of right-clicking the mouse and selecting paste.
If you want to capture only the active window press the Alt and PrtScn buttons together. Follow the process above to paste your document and save it for whatever purpose you need it for.
Mac
- To begin with, click on the Command, Shift, and the number 3 keys together to take a screenshot of the entire screen.
- Secondly, when using Mac, this action will take a screenshot of your entire screen.
- Also, To take a screenshot of a selected area, press the Command, Shift, and number 4 keys together.
- Alternatively, to take a screenshot on a Mac computer, you can use the keyboard shortcut that is the Grab tool.
- It allows you to take screenshots easily by clicking Capture. Afterward, select the type of screenshot that you would like to take. Grab is just one of the numerous tools available to assist you in taking screenshots.
