How to Make a Claim on MTN aYo Insurance
Many MTN mobile money subscribers have subscribed to the MTN aYo insurance policy and this write-up tackles how to make a claim on MTN aYo Insurance.
WHAT IS AYO INSURANCE?
MTN aYo insurance is a type of insurance cover that is operated by aYo and MTN Ghana. The aYo send with care gives subscribers insurance coverage for the money they send to their families using the MTN mobile money shortcode.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AYO INSURANCE?
By subscribing to ayo insurance, you will be given an insurance cover based on your premium deduction from your airtime. The more you purchase airtime, the more your premiums go up. Some of the benefits you derive by subscribing are that you get a :

- Receive a bonus
- Making claims are easy.
CHOICE OF COVER
1 . Mylife cover:
With this, when you pass away, your accumulated premiums will be paid out to your beneficiary. You can also insure any family member of your choice for free. He or she will also enjoy the same benefits as you.
2 . My hospital cover
With this policy, I’d you spend a night at the hospital due to an illness or accident, a fixed amount is paid per night for 30 nights and that can be used to settle debts incurred while on admission at the hospital.
AYO INSURANCE COST
As a subscriber of the policy, when sending an amount of money to your loved one you will be 5% of the money from your mobile money balance. For instance, if you are sending GHC 50, the cost for send with care will be 2.50 GHC, for GHC 400, you will be charged 20 cedis.
HOW TO USE THE AYO MTN SEND WITH CARE
Follow the steps below if you are sending money with care.
- Dial the mobile money short code *170#
- Select the option Transfer money
- Select option 3 which is send with care.
- Choose who you want to send the money to. The options are Mobile Money user, my family, my caretaker.
HOW TO INITIATE A CLAIM ON MTN AYO
To initiate a claim:
- Dial *296#.
- Select the claim option:
As an aYo Policyholder yourself, you have to select the continue option after the screen shows your cover balances and then you can select option 7 to claim. If you are not an aYo Policyholder yourself, the claim option will be available to you on the first screen under option 4. The prompts will direct you through the rest of the claims process.
- Provide the necessary documents i.e. evidence of death if you are making a death claim or an evidence of hospitalization if you are making a hospital claim.
- Your documents will be reviewed to see if they meet the requirements, if they do, your claim will be paid via Momo.
