How to Get a Job with a 2.2 or 3rd Class
Most often, students are told to excel in their exams so they become better people in the world. Every student wishes to graduate from school with a stellar academic performance like a first-class or second-class upper. However graduating with a third class or a pass should not be the end of the world, because you can make something out of your life.
With the high rate of unemployment, most graduates with a 2.2 or 3rd Class feel they have a slim chance of getting chosen. But, there are many 3rd class holders who do a better job than those with the first class. These are some tips to follow to increase your chances of landing a job
1 . Work on your mindset and attitude
Graduating with a low class can be traumatizing and hurt your self-esteem. Nonetheless, if you want to make your dream a reality, you need to put up a positive attitude. You can’t change your grades but you can work on yourself to put out your best. Do not sulk and complain about how bad life is. Life happens but then we need to move on.
2 . Build your network
You need to work on your interpersonal skills and hone your networking skills to land a job. Attend conferences, and join a professional association. Most graduates with a low grade normally land jobs based on recommendations from their friends and people they have met. Update your LinkedIn profile and make friends.
3 . Learn to communicate effectively and with confidence
Being a great communicator both in writing and in speech is a great way to be employed. There are people that can speak so well and confidently that even a lie will be sold to you as the truth. You need to sell yourself well and you need to do that by communicating, that is not to say you have to lie.
4 . Get your master’s or sign up for short courses
One way you can boost your CV despite your low grade is to enroll for short courses so you will be certified. You can apply for some online courses as well. Having a certification in something gives you an advantage over others even with your low grades. Getting a Master’s is also a way to boost your chances of getting a job and giving yourself a second chance.
5 . Learn a new skill
You need to enhance your skills to be in the job market. Learn some skills that are in demand and can complement your first degree. Programming, graphic designing, Web designing, blogging, and learning software programming are ways to build yourself for the job market
6 . Lastly, Entrepreneurship
Being an entrepreneur doesn’t consider your grade. You can create something for yourself and earn some money. It is said that little drops of water make a mighty ocean, so you can start small and work hard to build your empire.
