How to Fix It When Your iPhone Screen Turns Black and White

The most common reason the screen of your iPhone turns black and white is that the software settings of your phone have been changed.

Your phone’s screen displays as black and white because iPhones have accessibility settings that were introduced in iOS 8. This setting is helpful to people who are color blind and find it difficult to see images that are low contrast. Here are tips to help solve the Grayscale mode issue.

STEPS TO CHANGE YOUR IPHONE’S BLACK AND WHITE SCREEN TO COLOUR

The steps below are ways by which you can your Grayscale screen to color. It applies to all iPhone models that are running a current iOS.

  • Quickly press your iPhone’s lock screen button three times. If you have a home button you can tap that one instead. Doing this will enable the accessibility shortcut, that is if it is configured.  To set up this shortcut, switch an iPhone into a grayscale mode, which may cause your issue.
  • Next, tap on Display & Text Size settings to toggle the color filter if it’s on. The color filter is a feature of an iPhone that grants you accessibility.
  • Turn off the zoom settings on your iPhone if it is on. The zoom settings menu has a Grayscale color filter located under Zoom Filter. When the zoom feature is turned on, it changes the iPhone’s screen to black and white.
  • Reset your iPhone to default. This action will turn off any iOS feature responsible for turning your iPhone screen black and white. Also, it will reset every other setting on your phone. So that is normally the last option.

The steps above will fix the software issue of your phone‘s screen going black and white.
You should also note that third-party apps cannot change the screen of your iPhone to black and white. Hence you don’t need to worry about an app being the cause of your problem.

IN CONCLUSION

If the options above do not work for you, then it could be a problem with your hardware. It could either be from your display or the main board.
