HOW TO CHANGE THE INSTAGRAM APP ICON ON ANDROID AND IOS

Technology is really taking over the world and hence making some changes on your mobile device as well as the apps on the phone is nothing to give you a headache. Among all the apps, one of the first applications to give you the ability to add extra customization is Instagram. This experience was after Instagram was celebrated as 10 years old in 2020.

As part of the celebration, users now have the ability to chanter app icons to any classic design or image they want. The question then is, how do you do it? In this article,  we shall answer this question, providing you with the steps you need to follow to change your Instagram icon on both Android and iOS.

CHANGING THE INSTAGRAM APP ICON

Before we proceed to look at the steps involved,  we must note that the steps for changing your Instagram app icon on Android and iOS are quite different. Below are the steps involved.

FOR IOS USERS

• First, you will have to make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app. If you are not sure about this, open Appstore for iOS users,  and check if you have the latest version. If not, you will be asked to update. Note that the new icon change feature will not be accessible if your Instagram app is not the latest version. You also need to be sure you have iOS14 or a higher version and make sure you have the image you want to use as an Instagram app icon saved in your photos library.

• Next, you will have to install the shortcuts app on your phone after you are certain that you have all that stated above. Open the shortcuts app and tap on the plus sign in the upper right corner.
• The next page that pops up is where you have access to create a shortcut to actions you do on your app every day. On the list of options under the “Next Action Suggestion “, select “Open App”.
• Tap on “App” and then scroll down to select the Instagram app.
• After selecting the Instagram app, you will be directed to another page where you tap on “Add to Home Screen “.
• Under the home screen name and icon, click on the Instagram image icon and select “take a photo, choose a photo or choose file” to be able to add your preferred image.
• After, type the name Instagram or any preferred name in the new shortcut field and tapping “Add” on the upper right corner of the page to finally save the shortcut.
• Note that you’ll have two Instagram apps, one with the original app icon, and the other with the new icon change. You can hide the original app icon by removing it and keeping only the shortcut app on your home screen.

FOR ANDROID USERS

Changing your Instagram icon requires a third-party app. Meaning that you’ll have to download another app from the google play store to be able to access the Instagram app icon change.

• To begin, you need to download and install the application called “X Icon Changer”.
• Then on your home screen, press and hold any empty space or blank spot on the background and select widgets.
• After selecting widgets, tap on the new app you have downloaded, which is the X Icon Changer. Press and hold it till the home screen appears. Then you gently drag the app to where you want it to be on the home screen and leave it there.
• Next, launch the X Icon Changer and find the Instagram app.
  5.      Select “ New shortcut “, and select the image you want to use. They are also pre-msdr icons available you can choose from, or better drill, you can select one from your gallery.  When done, tap  “ Ok”, and wait for the app to complete the change  You can use this app to change an app’s icon on your phone, not only the Instagram app.
