How to apply for Global Entry

When returning to the United States after a trip overseas, using Global Entry is a fantastic method to bypass huge queues. We go over who is qualified, how to apply, and how to make advantage of it at airports. Now is an excellent time to apply for Global Entry if you’re sick of standing in line to re-enter the United States after vacationing abroad, especially if your credit card offers a statement credit to pay the application price.

A program run by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enables pre-approved, low-risk tourists to enter the country quickly after going abroad. A $100 non-refundable application fee is required.

Your five-year subscription, if accepted, includes both TSA PreCheck® and Global Entry (which provides expedited security checks at select airports in the U.S.).

We discusses who qualifies for Global Entry, how to apply, and how to utilize it at airports in the sections below:

Who’s eligible?

You must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to be eligible for Global Entry. You may find out more about the conditions for foreign applications and find out if residents of particular nations can also apply.

A parent or legal guardian’s permission is required for participants under the age of 18.

How to apply for Global Entry

A $100 application fee and a Global Entry application must be submitted by applicants. You might be eligible for a fee reimbursement depending on the credit card you use. For instance, every four years, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card grants a statement credit of up to $100 toward a Global Entry application.

Application steps:

  1. A Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) account should be created.
  2. Join TTP, fill out the application, and pay the $100 non-refundable cost.
  3. Your application will be examined after you complete it and pay the required cost. Your TTP account will give you instructions to schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center if your application is conditionally approved.
  4. At the interview, you must have a current passport and one other form of identification, like a license or ID card. You must show your machine-readable permanent resident card if you are a legitimate permanent resident. A CBP officer will question you, take your picture, and gather biometric data during the interview (scan your fingerprints).

The CBP indicates that the entire application procedure may take up to several months but does not give a specific time range.

How does Global Entry work

Simply find the Global Entry automated kiosks at a few airports when you arrive in the US. Next, you must submit a customs declaration, scan your machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, and have your fingerprints verified. You’ll be given a transaction receipt and told where to go to get your belongings and leave.
