HOW I GOT DEPORTED ON ARRIVAL IN THE US AND MY VISA CANCELLED ON THE SPOT

Read with NewsNowGh on how a Kenyan lady got her US visa canceled on arrival in the US and deported back to her home country.

This is a story of a lady from Kenya who received an invitation to a wedding in the US, got her ticket, and left for the US. On her arrival, unfortunately, her friend who sent her an invitation letter denied knowing her and denied sending her the invitation also. She was denied entry; her visa was canceled and she was deported back to Kenya.

One would be wondering why this happened. Here are a few things to learn from this story;

The fact that you have a country visa doesn’t guarantee your entry into the country.
Visas primarily permit your travel as a potential immigrant. However, on arrival in the country, the border control officers have to review your case or purpose of travel. They can then decide based on your purpose either to allow you entry or also how long your stay in the country could be.

Border control officers are also interested in an immigrant’s financial capabilities. This is to check whether or not an immigrant has sufficient financial resources to take care of themselves once they are permitted entry into the country.

HOW TO AVOID SUCH INCONVENIENCES

  • Traveling as a visitor, you ought to know where you are traveling to and the purpose of your travel. Your travel purpose should be simple to understand and convincing enough.
  • You should also be able to explain how you are going to get there and who else you’re traveling with. This includes your source of funding; either yourself, a company sponsorship, or a relative in the said country.
  • Be able to explain why your application should be now or not any other time or year. That shows the officers that your travel is well thought out and you are not just haphazard about it.
  • Don’t rely too much on others be it friends or family for your travel. Try as much as you can to travel on your own and not rely too much on others. Feeling neglected on travel is very devastating and heartbreaking.
