Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2027/2028 in Hong Kong (Fully-Funded)

Applications are open for the 18th round of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council funds full-time doctoral study at eight universities. The scheme welcomes applicants from any country, background, or work history. Over 4,200 students from around 100 countries have joined since 2009.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows earn a competitive annual stipend throughout their fellowship term. A separate travel allowance covers conferences and research-related trips. Universities may offer added support if a PhD runs longer. Fellowship support lasts up to three years per recipient.

Required Materials

Applicants complete the HKPFS initial application through the online system. A full PhD admission application must follow at each chosen university. Applicants quote their HKPFS Reference Number in that university application.
