Job Description
KEY RESULTS AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advice to Executive Management, Head Office departments and branches’
- To ensure the drafting of all banking facilities documentation,
- Process pre-disbursement facility documentation,
- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure effective insurance policies are in place to protect the Bank’s assets (human, movable and immovable) against all manner of risks,
- Give support to all relevant departments and units in negotiations with third parties and draft the necessary legal agreements
- Handle all contentious files (in defence or otherwise)
- Provide legal support to the Human Resources Division on labour issues,
- Ensure the Bank is represented in court and before other investigative bodies: CHRAJ; Serious Fraud Office, Police, etc.,
- Ensure compliance with all court orders and judgments,
- Ensure that the Bank has title to all its landed properties,
- Ensure proper custody of all security documents of the Bank and its clients,
- Handle the drafting of all tenancy and services agreements and ensure cancellation or renewal thereof.
- Provide Legal Opinion to Group, Regional Directorate; Management and Heads of Department
- Ensure the supervision of the legal team and the day to day management, and evaluation of team
- Preparation of Annual Budget
- To ensure submission of Monthly Reports to Line Manager
- Presentation of Reports at the Quarterly Legal Affairs Committee
QUALIFICATION(S)
- First Degree in Law or its equivalent professional qualification
- Barrister at Law
- At least 15 years relevant Post Qualification Experience
- Senior Management Experience/Expertise
- 5 years experience in working in a Financial Institution
