About the Fellowship

Fellows join CIHE for one calendar year. They access Boston College’s online and physical library holdings. They also engage with the wider campus and its international visitors. In return, fellows share their expertise. They may do so through seminars, MA student sessions, or CIHE publications.

What Fellows Receive

CIHE reimburses economy airfare to and from Boston. It also reimburses visa processing fees. Fellows receive $3,500 monthly for three months. The stipend covers housing and medical insurance. Fellows also receive a desk, printing privileges, and a computer if needed.

Who Can Apply

Any early-career researcher in higher education studies may apply. They must be within five years of completing a doctoral degree. Preference goes to applicants from marginalised backgrounds. This includes refugees, those based in the Global South, and underrepresented groups. Fellows must arrange their own housing and visa paperwork.

Required Materials

Applicants email a letter of interest to internationalhighered@bc.edu. They also send a current CV listing one colleague as a reference. A completed Visiting Scholar application form is required. All materials must reflect the applicant’s own words, without AI assistance.

How to Apply

Email your application before November 15, 2026. Finalists interview with CIHE leadership in January.
