Some foreign workers may be exempted from the work permit requirement, depending on the nature of their work or their nationality. You may also be exempted under international or trade agreements. Check the government of Canada website (https://www.canada.ca) for a list of exempted workers.

Next, find a job offer
To obtain a work permit, you will need a job offer from a Canadian employer. You can search for job openings on various websites including job bank, indeed, glassdoor, and LinkedIn.
You can also contact a recruitment agency or a Canadian employer directly to inquire about job opportunities.

You may need to provide a police certificate, medical examination, biometric data, and other eligibility criteria listed earlier.

Apply for a work permit
To apply, complete the application form and pay the application fee. You also need to provide all required documents and answer questions about your background, job offer, and your plans for living in Canada.

The processing time for a work permit application varies depending on the workload of the processing office.

Await a decision from the Immigration Authorities
If your application is approved, you will receive a work permit that specifies the employer, job location, and duration of the work permit.
If your application is refused, however, it doesn’t just end there, you will receive a letter that explains the reasons for your refusal and the options for appealing the decision.
