Provincial Immigration Results (July 27 to August 2)
British Columbia
This week, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program conducted a targeted draw. Through the Express Entry British Columbia Option Stream for Skilled Worker International Graduates, the province welcomed a minimum of 147 individuals. Applicants were chosen for this draw based on their educational background and capacity to solve labor market gaps in British Columbia.
Within the draw, different industries were targeted for different cutoff scores. They were as follows:
- To be invited, childcare providers had to score at least 89; 33 invites were sent out.
- A minimum score of 90 was required for construction workers to be invited; 27 invites were sent out.
- To be invited, healthcare personnel had to score at least 101; 22 invites were sent out.
- To be invited, tech personnel had to score at least 120; 64 invites were sent out.
- To be invited, veterinary care providers have to get at least one invitation and have a minimum score of 80.
For foreign workers with postsecondary education or training and related experience in professional management, technical trades, or other skilled jobs in British Columbia, there is a category called “Skilled Worker.” The National Occupational Classification (NOC) must apply to the candidate’s line of work.
Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities
Candidates applying under the Skilled Worker category who fall into one of the following skill levels on the matrix: 0, 1, or 2 must have a full-time, permanent work offer in a skilled occupation from an employer in British Columbia. Candidates must demonstrate that they meet the provincial standards for the occupation at the time of application if the job offer is in a regulated field that necessitates required certification or licensing.
Paid cooperative work placements are recognized as work experience if they were full-time and did not exceed the job offer in terms of skill.
Manitoba
The Manitoba PNP (MPNP) conducted two skilled worker immigration lotteries this week. Under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream, an occupation-specific selection process led to the first draw. Those who fit under the broad category of Category III Healthcare jobs or who corresponded to 44,100 home support workers, caregivers, and related occupations received 145 invitations from the draw.
Another draw under the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream was held by the MPNP on the same day. Candidates with a minimum score of 724 were given 58 invites under this stream. To be eligible for consideration in this draw, candidates had to be invited by the MPNP as part of a strategic recruitment campaign. 29 of the 203 invites that the MPNP sent out this week went to people who confirmed that they had a valid Express Entry profile.
The significance of Canada’s regional immigration policies is underscored by the most recent PNP draws in Manitoba and British Columbia. These provinces are building pathways for community enrichment and economic development by focusing on particular talents and qualifications, guaranteeing a bright future for incoming immigrants and the areas they will call home.
