Global Innovation Fellowships 2026 | Call for Applications

Applications are open for the British Academy’s Global Innovation Fellowships. UK-based researchers spend a year embedded at the Carnegie Endowment. Fellows work across climate, security, global order, or regional policy areas. Up to two fellowships are awarded across five thematic tracks.

About the Fellowship

This fellowship builds bridges between UK academia and global policy work. Fellows embed directly within one of Carnegie’s international offices. The partnership benefits both the researcher and Carnegie’s own expert network. Knowledge moves both ways between academic and policy environments.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive up to £150,000 covering salary and research costs. The award supports a full year based at a Carnegie office. Fellows gain direct exposure to leading global foreign policy expertise. Interviews follow shortlisting, held on 8 February 2027.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be UK residents with a long-term academic appointment. Candidates should work at an approved UK research institution currently. Early- to mid-career status in humanities or social sciences is required. Current PhD students and thesis-pending candidates cannot apply.
